Description
The garments of enlisted men in WWII straddles an unusual paradigm that makes it so appealing to proponents of a classic wardrobe - they were functional garments made to be abused, but cut with the sensibilities of the pre-fashion, pre-mass production world. Trousers like the USMC P-41, P-44 and P-47 and their variants show this. Cut high on the waist without an attached waistband, a full hip and a gentle taper to the leg, they are as reminiscent of a dress trouser in their form, while being a tank of a garment in their make and fabric.
Our P13 is modelled after such iconic garments. Cut full and high with the same self-banded waist, they pair with a sports coat or tweed jacket in a proportion that isn’t out of place. Made in Japan from heavy Cotton HBT, with our unfinished iron buttons that will patina and rust as the cloth softens and ages, these are made to get better with every wash and wear. With a pair of Cordovan Penny loafers and Navy sportex or a Flannel DB, it knocks all the stuffiness out of wearing a tailored jacket, without looking like a modern fashion garment floundering next to the beauty of tailored proportions.
The P13 trouser - as elegant or as rowdy as you choose it to be.
