Translating the world of classic garments and kit into something a little softer, a little more feminine, is no small job. Our mission at Bryceland’s has always been to produce beautiful, durable and functional garments that age beautifully - our philosophy is that each garment should be at its most basic on the shop floor, and at it’s best the day before it is retired for valiant service. So it is with great excitement that we are now seeing our womenswear range grow and take form under the talented eye of Janet Wong.
The Story
Over the past seven years, Janet has been crucial to Bryceland’s. With a background in tailoring after completing her studies in Fashion Design, Janet brings a love of classical tailored proportions and an ability to translate those fits through careful patternmaking to our womenswear range - “Emmeline”.
Janet has an inherent eye for elegance in a garment, drape in cloth and an antique sensibility in pattern and colour. Inspired by garments from the 1900’s through to the 1960’s, she creates garments that feel both classical and relevant.
“I design and make things for what I want to wear or what I need in my wardrobe,” said Janet. “Initially, because I couldn’t find garments that I have 100% confidence in buying on the market.”

Janet began designing with us from her first piece - The Janet Jean - a high waisted buckle back jean with a wide leg in selvedge left hand twill denim. Inspired by the classic Marilyn Monroe fit, our Janet Jean is made to be worn, broken down and loved.
Janet paints a picture of dustbowl practicality mixed with 60’s kitsch and 1920’s tailored elegance - like a black tie dinner on the prairie, it is elegance in both form and function.
